This talk will take place at the Madison-Morgan 2016 Sustainability Symposium at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center.
Bourke is the program manager for the EarthCraft Sustainable Preservation program, a regional green building certification program created specifically for historic buildings. The program is designed to evaluate and highlight what is inherently sustainable about historic buildings while providing guidance on appropriate alterations to make them more energy and water efficient. Projects will receive technical guidance from green building and preservation experts helping achieve customized solutions for more sustainable historic buildings. The program is specifically intended for historic building projects sized 50,000 square feet or less, however all projects may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
EarthCraft is a green building certification program designed to address climate, energy and water issues unique to the southeastern United States. EarthCraft serves as a blueprint for resource-efficient single-family homes, multifamily structures, renovation projects, community developments and light-commercial buildings. EarthCraft also offers a Sustainable Preservation program designed specifically for historic buildings. Founded by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface in 1999, the EarthCraft program has certified more than 40,000 homes. Learn more at www.earthcraft.org.
