For Immediate Release
ATLANTA, GA – November 27, 2018 – Southface, a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainability policies and practices across homes, workplaces and communities throughout the Southeast, announced today that it has added Stephanie Stuckey as its new Director of Sustainability Services. This position is an expansion of Southface’s organizational and corporate sustainability efforts to leverage existing and new Southface programs while providing sustainability strategy, consulting and project management services across city, municipal and NGO clients. Ms. Stuckey joins Southface from her role as Chief Resilience Officer in the Mayor’s Office of Resilience for the City of Atlanta.
“We are thrilled to bring Stephanie into the Southface family,” said Southface President Andrea Pinabell. “From her work in implementing the Resilient Atlanta strategy to her 14 years in the Georgia House of Representatives, her career has been built on forging sustainable and equitable opportunities at the city and state level. Stephanie brings remarkable experience, energy and vision to this role.”
Prior to her role at Southface, Ms. Stuckey had her own consulting agency, Stuckey Consulting, and was Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) and Director of Sustainability for the City of Atlanta from 2015. As the CRO, she served as the liaison for the City of Atlanta to the Rockefeller Foundation for the 100 Resilient Cities program. She also implemented construction of the first three miles of the Proctor Creek Greenway trail; completed the Clean Energy Atlanta plan (100% clean energy for City of Atlanta operations by 2025); helped secure a $12+ million bond to finance green infrastructure projects in the Proctor Creek Watershed; created the City’s electric vehicle program, including passage of the nation’s most comprehensive electric vehicle ordinance; founded Atlanta’s Urban Agriculture program, along with the nation’s largest urban food forest; and established the South’s largest municipal solar program and energy efficiency performance contract.
Earlier, Ms. Stuckey managed the nonprofit environmental law firm GreenLaw, served as Georgia State Representative for parts of DeKalb County and the City of Atlanta and practiced law in her own firm and with the State Senate Judiciary Committee and Fulton County Public Defenders’ Office. She has received numerous honors, including being named as one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend Magazine, 2018, and one of the Top 75 Leaders in Energy & Environment by Environmental Leader Magazine, 2018, as well as sitting on the Sierra Club Foundation’s national Board of Directors.
“I am so excited to be joining the Southface team,” Stephanie Stuckey said. “I have long supported their nationally recognized efforts to innovate sustainable building and urban community best practices. My own work has been focused on creating victories in environmental resilience and social equity, and I am thrilled to join forces with the Southface powerhouse.”
