Social Moves to the Forefront of ESG

When thinking about sustainability, people often refer to the environmental aspect. This is also true when thinking about the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors used to evaluate companies’ sustainability efforts. The unforeseen pandemic and movement of racial justice have caused a shift from environmental discussions to social, and in the realm of corporate sustainability, S factors have been overshadowed by E and G because they are harder to evaluate and measure their success. As companies work to address health and safety of their employees during COVID-19 and complex social issues, we will better understand the interconnectedness of ESG.
