Learn

In this Certified DET Verifier course, you will learn the basic building science concepts and math skills related to air leakage, duct leakage and ventilation in homes. This will allow you to conduct leakage tests in new homes as part of the IECC testing requirements for air-tightness of the envelope and duct work. In existing homes, you can offer retrofit sealing of ducts, walls, floors and ceilings to improve comfort and reduce utility costs for homeowners. Specific topics include:

  • Protocols for blower door and duct leakage testing
  • Calculations for ACH50 and percent duct leakage

Benefits of getting DET Verifier certification

  • It enables you to help builders meet state building energy codes that now require all new homes in Georgia and Alabama to be tested by a Certified DET Verifier.
  • It has recognition in multiple states, under testing requirements for Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
  • It prepares you for the BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) certification field exam.
