A garden party, centuries in the making: join us for our annual Summer Solstice celebration on June 20, 2024!
Southface’s advocacy programs work to ensure healthy, affordable and resilient communities in the face of our changing climate and increasing urbanization. This year’s Summer Solstice invites you to celebrate sustainability and resilient communities as we honor bugs, future generations, and rising stars in Southface’s gardens.
This year we are thrilled to present Rainey Shane with 2024’s Rising Star Award for her dedication to making a positive impact on the world. Rainey is the Chief Executive Officer of SEAM, Inc., a non-profit organization that specializes in embedding social equity in commercial real estate through the use of the Social Equity Assessment Method (SEAM) Standard and certification framework. Before her current role, Rainey was the Director of Social Sustainability for North America at JLL, where she launched and led social sustainability consulting services.
Some are calling it cicada-geddon, but at Southface we are excited to celebrate these amazing bugs. A resilience story 4+ million years in the making, these ancient, red-eyed bugs can teach us about climate change, increased urbanization, and our overall community health. Come dressed in your favorite bug inspired outfits as we honor broods xix, xiii, and all bugs who help keep our planet green.
At Southface, we are building sustainability for life so that future generations can inherit a happy and healthy home. This year, we look forward to hosting students ahead of Summer Solstice as they learn why bugs matter. More details coming soon!
Your ticket enables Southface to inspire future generations.
Thanks to the generosity of our members and sponsors, 100% of your ticket supports youth outreach – this year we welcome Girl Scouts of Atlanta to learn about our upcoming sustainability upgrades to Girl Scouts of Atlanta’s headquarters through Southface’s GoodUse program, why these upgrades are important for our planet, and how they can aspire to be women in sustainability.
