Last night at the annual Winter Solstice Celebration, Southface staff, members and friends celebrated a successful year and honored key contributors to the organization’s mission including The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, the recipient of the Southface Award of Excellence, and the Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable Steering Committee, recipients of Volunteer of the Year Award.

An Energy Efficient Route to Veteran Employment in Georgia

The transition from military service to civilian life is difficult for many, including myself. Identifying transferable skills and competing for jobs in a tough market equates to a challenging road to employment for many veterans. Southface was recently approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs to accept veteran education benefits from students who have served in the military, who are currently on active duty, or are dependents of a disabled or deceased veteran for most Southface courses. EarthCraft: 15 Years of Innovation

The EarthCraft green building certification program was developed by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface in 1999. EarthCraft certification helps to ensure that buildings and communities in the region meet strict criteria for saving energy and water, ensuring high indoor air quality and protecting land and natural resources.
