Meet a Southfacer: Jenna Grygier

About Us

Jenna Grygier, Residential Green Building Services project manager As a RESNET Quality Assurance Designee (QAD), Jenna manages the Southface Energy Rated Homes (SERH) providership and serves as a mentor and technical advisor for new and existing independent HERS and Southface staff. She is involved with overseeing the ENERGY STAR, Indoor airPLUS and WaterSense programs and ensuring that all third-party quality assurance responsibilities are performed and reported. Meet a Southfacer: Maria Quiñones

About Us

Maria conducts energy and water assessments for commercial facilities. She provides technical assistance to the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge program for large commercial facilities that have publicly pledged to reduce energy and water use by 20% by 2020. Maria also works with the Grants to Green program for metro Atlanta nonprofits by identifying energy and water conservation projects and providing technical support for implementing resource-saving strategies.

Integrated Design: A Case Study of Weatherford Place

The residential workshop took place at Weatherford Place, a Solar Community of EcoCraft Hybrid™ Homes in Roswell designed and constructed by Cadmus Construction. The development has achieved the first Platinum Level LEED for Homes Certification in Georgia, a pioneering feat attained by only five percent of LEED for Homes certification recipients nationwide.

The USGBC’s goal is to provide a program that gives building teams tools to develop high-performance, healthy living spaces. Southface utilizes this tool to provide technical assistance and sustainability consulting services for many clients interested in providing healthy environments in their homes, school, offices, and clinics.

Southface’s IREC-accredited Trainings and DOE’s Quality Work Plan

Education

In July 2012, Southface became one of the first Weatherization Training Centers (WTC) in the country to earn IREC Accreditation for its Energy Auditor Training Program. In January 2014, Southface earned IREC Accreditation for the remaining three Home Energy Professional Training Programs: Quality Control Inspector, Retrofit Installer Technician and Crew Leader, making Southface one of only seven WTCs in the country to possess IREC Accreditation for all four of the Home Energy Professional designations.

EarthCraft Virginia's Sustainable Leadership Awards

EarthCraft Virginia is an independent nonprofit organization that started as a special initiative of Southface, but has truly flourished over its 10-year history. I had the honor of offering remarks at this years’ ceremony where individuals were recognized for their accomplishments in advancing green building and sustainable community design.
